1. About HOP Brighton
HOP Brighton operates as a technology platform connecting passengers with licensed Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) drivers in Brighton & Hove and surrounding areas. HOP Brighton is not a transport carrier. Each journey is provided by an independent licensed PHV driver who holds appropriate Brighton & Hove City Council licensing.
2. Operator & Licensing
HOP Brighton holds (or operates under) a Private Hire Operator licence from the relevant local authority. Drivers and vehicles must hold valid PHV driver and vehicle licences, Hire & Reward insurance, and comply with Brighton & Hove licensing conditions including tariff limits where applicable.
3. Booking & Fares
Fares are shown before you confirm your booking via WhatsApp. Prices are calculated using approved tariff rules and route data. Payment method (card, cash, or digital wallet where available) is selected before the journey begins. HOP may charge a platform fee as disclosed at booking.
4. Cancellations
- Standard booking — free cancellation before your driver is en route; fees may apply if the driver is nearby or waiting (as shown at booking).
- Scheduled bookings — free cancellation up to one hour before pickup; later cancellations may incur a fee.
- No-show — if you do not arrive within the agreed waiting period, a waiting or no-show fee may apply.
5. Your Responsibilities
You must provide accurate pickup and destination details, behave safely and lawfully in the vehicle, and comply with UK law. Assistance dogs must be accepted without extra charge (Equality Act 2010). Alcohol consumption in the vehicle is prohibited.
6. Driver Relationship
Drivers are independent contractors, not employees of HOP. HOP does not guarantee availability of drivers at all times. We facilitate matching, payment processing, and support but are not liable for acts or omissions of drivers beyond our legal obligations as a licensed operator platform.
7. Data Protection (UK GDPR)
We process personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Customer phone numbers are not shared directly with drivers; anonymised communication channels are used where required. See our Privacy Policy for full details. You may contact us to exercise your data rights.
8. Complaints
Report issues within 24 hours via WhatsApp Support or email. Serious licensing matters may also be referred to Brighton & Hove City Council Licensing.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HOP's liability is limited to the platform service fee for the relevant journey, except where liability cannot be excluded (including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via the website or WhatsApp. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
